Kalidasa states that The best among the flowers are Jasmine, Lord Vishnu is the best among the men. the most beautiful among the women is Ramba. The Peculiarity about Sri Kanchi Kamakshi amman temple is (sachamara ramavani savya dakshina sevitha) i.e., the goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati are in one form as Sri Kamakshi the Supreme Goddess. The letter KA represents Saraswati, MA as Lakshmi and the Akshi refers to the gracious eyes. Goddess  Lakshmi and Saraswati are referred as the two eyes of the presiding deity Sri Kamakshi.Here, in this temple the Supreme Goddess is manifested as "Bala"(a 7yr old girl) hence it is very special to visit this temple on the auspicious days of Navarathri.The Supreme Goddess is originated in three forms as Kaarana (in the form of Bilakaasam), Bimbam(as Kamakoti Kamakshi) and in Sookshmam(the Invisible mode) (i.e., Sri Yantra).Historically, it is noteworthy that the Idol of the Supreme Goddess was not consecrated by any Kings or Saints, but it is said that the Kings like Dasaratha, Tundeera, Krishnadevaraya, the pallava Kings and the King Karikaala Chola had come to worship the Divine Mother Sri Kamakshi. She who is the personification of Peace. The Goddess is seated in a majestic Padmasana an Yogic posture in the place called Gayathri Mandapam. it is said that many sages have performed penance and have been blessed by the Supreme Deity. Kanchi is one among the 7mokshapuris and Panchaboothasthalas ('Pancha' - 5 , 'bootha' - elements, and 'sthala' - location). The theertha (pond) of the temple is named Panchaganga. Sri Kamakshi amman temple is one of the most 18 Sacred peethas it is also Odiyana Peetham (Odiyana refers to the ladys belt) which refers the mid part. Sri Adi Sankara consecrated the Invisible form of (Sookshma roopa) Sri Yantra to the form of Idol then he attained his eternity. The ancient Sage Durvasa had worshipped sri kanchi kamakshi, even now the poojas are performed to Devi as per the procedure from "Sowbhagyachintamani" by the sage himself. Those who are authorized to perform poojas to devi are Sastris.( They do not fall under the category of Sivachariars or Bhattachariars). Sri Kamakshi is manifested in various form as Adhi Kamakshi, Kamakoti Kamakshi, Thapas Kamakshi in the same temple. According to Markandeyapurana, The Supreme deity of the Ikshuvaku vamsa (  Solar Dynasty) was Sri Kamchi Kamakshi, so it is said that only after worshipping this Divine Mother, King Dasaratha was blessed with his Four sons Lord Rama, lakshmana, Bharatha and Shatrugna.On the Auspicious days of Navarathri Festival Kanya Pooja, pre-pubescent girls are ceremonially worshiped and Suvasini Pooja, Married women are ceremonially worshipped. In our Tamilnadu Navarathri is divided into sets of three days to adore three diffferent aspects of the Supreme Goddess or Goddessess. First three days for Goddess Durga, the Second three days to adore Goddess lakshmi and the final three days are spent to worship the Goddess of Wisdom, Sarawathy are performed specially in this temple. All over India this Navarathri Festival is Celebrated in various names as Dhusira, Durgapooja and Dasara. In our Tamilnadu Navarathri is divided into sets of three days to adore three different aspects of the Supreme Goddess or Goddessess. First three days for Goddess Durga, the Second three days to adore Goddess lakshmi and the final three days are spent to worship the Goddess of Wisdom, Sarawathy.Observing fast on the occasion of Navarathri and Chanting or listening to the mantra Durga Sapthashati ( from Devi Mahathmyam) is considered as Special. Navratri is traditionally an auspicious and religious time for starting new ventures. By Worshipping our Divine Mother on this Special days of the Navarathri festival one can acheive everything and anything.
